What is a foam wall spill berm?
A foam wall spill berm is a portable secondary containment tray. The floor and wall sleeves are PVC-coated polyester; foam sealed inside the sleeves keeps the walls up. Leaks and drips stay on the floor inside the walls instead of reaching the ground or a drain.
Small units are also sold as mini foam wall berms or foam wall spill containment berms. In the UK and Europe the same product is a foam wall bund, and buyers search for portable foam wall bunding.
Unlike bracket wall berms, there is nothing to assemble: unfold it and the walls stand. Unlike a rigid drip tray, it folds flat and wheels can roll over the edge.
Features
Self-supporting foam walls
Foam sealed inside each wall sleeve holds the wall upright as soon as the berm is unfolded. There are no brackets or stakes to fit.
Step-over, drive-over access
Carts, wheels and boots press the wall down and it recovers. Equipment goes in and out without lifting it over a rigid lip.
Welded, liquid-tight floor
PVC-coated polyester is CNC-cut and joined by high-frequency or hot-air welding, so there are no stitch holes in the containment area.
Folds flat
Empty berms fold into a compact pack. The hook-and-loop strap on the wall keeps the folded berm closed in a vehicle or store room.
Any size
Squares, long rectangles and one-off footprints are cut to order, so the berm fits the generator, drum rack or vehicle it sits under.
High-visibility yellow
Yellow marks the containment area on a busy workshop floor or job site and makes leaks easy to see.
The floor is PVC-coated polyester, not a PE tarp. How the fabric is built, and how we weld it.
Sizes and capacities
Every berm is made to order, in any length and width. The sizes below are common starting points; capacity is geometric (inner floor size × wall height) before anything is placed inside.

Need another size, a long narrow berm or a higher wall? Send the dimensions. TBC: confirm the wall heights you produce (4 in and 6 in are the market standard)
Work out a size
Enter the inner floor size and wall height to see the geometric capacity. To size for a regulation, start from the container volume you must hold, subtract the volume of anything standing inside the berm, and allow for rain outdoors.

Where foam wall berms are used
Vehicle and fleet maintenance
Under engines, gearboxes and hydraulic hoses during servicing, or under parked trucks with a known leak.
Generators and light towers
Under portable generators, light towers and fuel tanks on construction and event sites.
Drums and small containers
Around drums, jerry cans and small tanks during storage, decanting or transfer.
Pumps, compressors and machinery
Under hydraulic power packs, compressors and pumps that drip oil or coolant.
Fuel and oil transfer
At temporary fuelling or oil-change points where a hose or fitting could leak.
Emergency response
Unfolded under a leaking vehicle or container to catch the flow while the source is dealt with.
Mini foam wall berm, drive-over berm or bracket wall berm?
Typical ranges across the market. We quote foam wall berms to your size; tell us if you are unsure which type fits.
| Type | Walls | Size | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|
| Mini foam wall berm | Foam, typically 4–6 in (100–150 mm) high | Typically 2 × 2 ft to 6 × 6 ft | Drums, generators, machinery, maintenance under a vehicle |
| Low-profile drive-over foam wall berm | Foam, typically 2–4 in (50–100 mm) high | Vehicle-sized pads, up to tens of feet long | Trucks and plant driving in and out, wash-down areas |
| Bracket wall berm | Fabric held up by removable brackets, often 8–12 in (200–300 mm) | Medium to very large | IBCs, tanks and larger volumes where walls stay up |

Questions about foam wall spill berms
What is a foam wall spill berm?
A portable, flexible spill containment tray made of PVC-coated polyester, with foam sealed inside its low side walls. The walls stand up on their own, can be stepped on or driven over and spring back, and the berm folds flat when empty. Small units are often called mini foam wall berms.
Is a foam wall bund the same product?
Yes. "Berm" is the usual word in the US and Canada; buyers in the UK, Ireland and Australia say "bund" or "portable foam wall bunding" for the same foam-walled containment tray.
What sizes can you make?
Any length and width. Common starting points run from 2 × 2 ft (610 × 610 mm) to 6 × 6 ft (1830 × 1830 mm), and larger or long, narrow footprints are cut to order. Send the inner size or the equipment footprint with the clearance you want.
How much liquid does a foam wall berm hold?
Geometric capacity is inner length × inner width × wall height. A 4 × 4 ft berm with 6 in walls holds about 60 US gallons (227 litres). Subtract the volume of anything standing inside the berm, and allow for rain if it is used outdoors.
Can vehicles drive over the walls?
Wheels, carts and people can cross the foam walls, which compress and recover. For forklifts and other small, hard wheels, or for frequent traffic, use a track mat and confirm the load with us first.
Which liquids can it contain?
PVC-coated fabric is commonly used for diesel, lubricating oils and hydraulic fluids. Some fuels, solvents and aromatic chemicals attack PVC, so send the Safety Data Sheet of the liquid before you order.
Are foam wall berms EPA certified?
No containment product is EPA certified. Under the US SPCC rule the facility must provide adequate secondary containment, and a foam wall berm can be part of that when it is sized for the containers it serves.
Do you make foam wall berms under our brand?
Yes. OEM supply is our core business: we make foam wall spill berms for distributors, catalogue sellers and rental companies under their own brand and packaging.
